8.1 installation problem - Control panel now semi-broken
Hello.
I had absolutely no problems with Windows 8.
When I read of the release of 8.1 I upgraded from Windows 8.0 to windows 8.1 and now cannot access my control panel unless I start up in Diagnostic Startup mode in system configuration.
Under a normal
boot when I click on the control panel icon from the desktop (non-tile) mode the control panel flashes on for a moment and then the screen looks like it is going to change into "Tile Mode" and then the desktop again appears but no control panel can be accessed.
I can navigate to certain parts of the control panel like user accounts but if I navigate backwards through the bar above the ribbon I get bumped back to the desktop. When I typed SFC /SCANNOW in the command prompt (ran as administrator) the system finds
no problems.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
