Can one teach Excel to follow links with ctrl-click only?

I have set many links in my sheet (links to other cells but also to Webpages) to ease the access to related information.
However, when working with the sheet, it is somewhat annoying that each click into a cell immediately follows the link.
E.g.
if I want to select a cell or a cell range and click into a cell, I am immediately taken to the link target.
I always have to remember to press ctrl first to NOT follow the link.
Is it possible to invert that behavior? I would prefer, at least while
I am still working with and changing the sheet, that I would need to press ctrl to follow the link and that a normal click would simply select the cell.
I.e.
the same behavior as in Word, while editing a file...

To select a cell that has a hyperlink in it without jumping to the hyperlink destination, click the cell and hold the mouse button until the cursor becomes a cross , then release the mouse button.
