Any way to disable the "slow performance" nag / aero drop out?
I run BOINC on my computer -- meaning, when I'm away, my computer, with my permission and intent, maxes out its CPU and GPU on scientific tasks.
However, Windows *insists* it knows what's best for me, and that my computer MUST be slow because some arbitrary
benchmarking was not afforded enough CPU time, and half the time drops me out of Aero to "improve performance".
Is there a way to disable the nag, or, more importantly, the drop-out-of-Aero? I am, after all, doing this deliberately.
I didn't see anything obvious in the group policy manager, but it'd be easy for me to miss something.
I suppose on the topic of nags, anyone know how to disable the "restart to finish installing important updates!" nag? It doesn't auto restart (flipped that switch already), but I'd love to nuke the nag, too.
If neither of these have solution, PLEASE FIX THIS FOR WINDOWS 8.
Really.
Sometimes the user really does know what they're doing.

It is compatible.
The only (sporadic) dropouts occur when Windows decides that my computer is being too slow because BOINC (SETI@Home, Einstein@Home, etc) is running in the background.
Hi
Windows 7 is sensitive to the resources that are are available versus the amount of resources that are being used.
It sounds like the BOINC program is pushing the limit past the threshhold that the OS considers safe for the installed hardware.
If you are only using this program when you are away from the computer, you might want to take the time to change some settings prior to starting the program.
You can quickly change the selected theme from Aero to one of the other options, such as the Classic theme with a few mouse clicks.

Make sure your computer has at least the minimum amount of random access memory (RAM) required to run the program that is displaying the error. Look for the program requirements online or in the packaging information.
